In history today we learnt about Fair Trade. The Maya are believed to be the first people to discover cocoa and it is thought that they began using cocoa to trade as early as 600CE. The Mayans used the beans to make a drink called 'xocolatl' made from crushed, dried cocoa beans, crushed chilies and water. Sugar had not been discovered so they used chillies to sweeten the chocolate which meant that it tasted very different to the chocolate we know nowadays. We used Google Slides to research and find out more about Fair Trade today!
