SunnyBank Mills 18.11.19

Sunnybank Mills

Year 5 took a trip to Sunny bank Mills today to learn all about the role of the mill during the First World War. We worked with Nancy, a story teller who really bought the stories and characters from the time to life! We tried on the Kharki uniforms, made by the Mill and worn by the soldiers at the front. It was really interesting seeing the difference between the uniforms worn by the soldiers at the front and the officers. We began working on some of our projects as well, learning about the balloon lookouts who would fly across the skies and the sweetheart brooches worn by many of the soldiers and sweethearts at the time.
