Recycling centre trip
Year 4 had a brilliant time at the recycling centre as part of our topic on looking after the environment! Whilst we were there, the children sorted rubbish into what could and couldn't be recycled. We were amazed by how much of our rubbish, which normally ends up in the black bin, could actually be put in our green one! The children also got to look at the grabber and see how the waste was sorted and removed. All parts of the waste are used in some way so that the whole of recycling center is powered by the energy they create. The team at Veolia were really impressed with the children's behaviour and because of this, let us into the control room to see how all of this works. We ended our trip by going to the living wall, which was huge and a brilliant habitat for all sorts of birds and minibeasts!
