SunnyBank Mills Sessions in School 26.11.19

We continued our work with Sunnybank Mills this week with a visit from Nancy, a lady from the First World War who worked in the factory producing khaki. We worked on making sweetheart broaches based on the ones which we had seen at the mills. We thought about the meaning behind them and how they often connected soldiers and people back home with the places or regiments where they worked during the war.

We also finished off our weaving project. The children worked really hard at creating a woven basket as a model of those which would have been used in the war as lookouts.
