Year 6 worked incredibly hard today, building the brand new air raid shelter prototypes that they had designed earlier in the project. The children had access to a variety of materials and spent the morning using their Design Technology skills to build our strong and sturdy shelters.
After break, and a little more time to make last minute adjustments, we had our finished product...
...and then came the time to test them! We started by using small value bombs (paper!) and all our shelters survived. Then the Blitz began and our large incendiary bombs (tennis balls!) put our shelters to a true test. As you can see, our shelters did an excellent job of repelling the bombs!
