Year three had so much fun exploring Bolton Abbey as part of their geography learning challenge 'Would you rather live in Yorkshire or the Swiss Alps?' Luckily, the rain stayed away for most of the day which meant they could really explore the grounds and take in the breathtaking scenery. Each class participated in a workshop where they spotted the features of the river; such as the meander and the flood plain. The children also learnt all about erosion and the water cycle. Afterwards, we were able to explore around the ruins of the Abbey and take it all in. Once we are back at school we are going to have a go at sketching the abbey and the grounds around it inspired by the artist we've been studying - Claude Monet!
