Following on from our first 'Talk For Writing' experience hunting for the Gruffalo, we decided to use the skills we had learnt to help us recount our trip to Abbey House Museum. We began by sequencing photographs from the trip and trying to get them in the correct order.
Next, we decided to use a story map to help us to remember all the important events in order. A story or text map allows the children to draw and act out the events in the correct order so that they remember exactly what happened. We created one as a whole class and then we had a go at creating our own.
Finally, we used our story/text maps to practise saying our recount aloud. We found that once it was easy to say, it was easy to write!
