Year 6 began their DT Project by reading an urgent letter sent to us from the Ministry of Defence and Prime Minister Churchill asking for our help in designing and building a new type of air raid shelter to help with the war effort.
We began by making a basic square structure and discussing what we would do to make it better and more suited to its purpose. This allowed us to start using different types of engineering terminology such as structure, support, weight, purpose and design.
Next time, we will be discussing triangles. We'll post more once we've progressed in our project!
