As part of our RE topic of 'New Beginnings', Year 2 went to visit St John's church in Farsley. The Rev Paul Tudge told us a little about his job and what happens at the church on a Sunday. We then re-enacted a baptism service. Each class had a baby doll which they had named and brought to the church, as well as a set of parents and god parents. Paul took special care to warm the baptism water on the radiator and thankfully neither baby cried. After the service, the children had the chance to explore the church and many took the opportunity to look for the famous 'lizard' carved into the woodwork by carpenters old and new. At the end of the visit, the children had a chance to ask any questions and we learnt a little bit about the famous Samuel Marsden window. We really enjoyed our special trip and we think Chloe and Annabelle (the babies) did too.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
