The children have been very busy- completing many independent challenges!
This week the children have taken part in their outdoor session with Mrs Fletcher exploring signs of autumn. Within provision, the children have utilised their knowledge of different seasons to create a suitable, autumnal outfit for Barnaby Bear!
In the images below you will see that our Year 1 children are also learning how to use their phonetic knowledge to identify different items of clothing through labels e.g. gloves, hat, jumper and coat.
Every week, the children have different challenges to complete within provision. This week Year 1 have focused on writing our "tricky words" using many different materials e.g. chalk and whiteboards, providing many opportunities for the children to practise their spellings and letter formation.
We have also introduced a new traditional tale this week, "The Three Little Pigs". The children have thoroughly enjoyed this story and are confident to join in with well known phrases. Year 1 have practised reciting the story using Talk for Writing whereby the children use a text map to retell the story to an adult.
Not only this, the children have lots of opportunities to explore, learn and discover based on their own interests. At the end of the day the children listened to the story "The Paper Dolls" by Julia Donaldson which sparked their interest in creating their own paper doll chain! The children also labelled their dolls using capital letters for names.
Great work Year 1!
