History - Significant Female Pilots 30.09.20

Today we learnt about two significant woman in the history of flight – Amelia Earhart and Amy Johnson. We sorted information about the two woman into a Venn diagram. We found out Amy was born in Hull, which isn’t too far from Farsley! We also found out that Amelia was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean on her own and Amy was the first woman to fly from London to Australia by herself. Both these women are very inspiring and significant.

We also ordered lots of important flying event in chronological order. We then ranked the flying events in order of importance. We had some excellent discussions and lots of us had different ideas and opinions. Lots of us thought the Wright brother’s flight was the most significant event as it inspired others to fly.
