Becoming hunter gatherers! 22.09.21

Today, the children learnt that Palaeolithic and Mesolithic humans were hunter-gatherers and nomadic – which meant that they had to move around to find food. We discovered that nomadic people primarily gathered nuts and berries and hunted with sharpened sticks and spears. The children were put into ‘tribes’ and had to ‘hunt’ for their food. We spoke about the difficulties that they faced, including having to compete with rival tribes for survival! The children all agreed that being nomadic would have been tiring and they thought that this might have influenced their decision to build settlements a little later in the era.
