African drumming & dancing 20.11.23
This week we were very lucky to have some visitors to help us learn more about our new topic, ‘What is life like in Zambia?’. The children took part in both a drumming and a dance workshop. During the drumming workshop, the children were asked to listen to and follow patterns using their drums. They used phrases such as ‘chocolate cake’ and ‘fish and chips’ to emphasise the different rhythms.
In the dance workshop, the children were taught movements from a traditional African dance and performed sequences of movements along to the music. Look out for some of these moves at home!
The children (and adults) all had a great time and it was a wonderful way to launch our new topic.
