Autumn 1 Week 6
This week in Year 2, we have continued to build on our addition and subtraction skills in Maths. The children have been focusing on number bonds to 100, adding by making a 10, and adding three-digit numbers. They have used a range of methods and manipulatives to help deepen their understanding and strengthen their confidence.
In Writing, we have been practising incorporating verbs into our sentences. We were really impressed by the children’s creativity and their ability to pack their sentences full of descriptive adjectives as well as powerful verbs!
In History, we recapped all the significant people we have learnt about in our topic on flight. The children took part in an oracy activity, working in groups to share key information they’ve gathered over the past few weeks with their peers. We then organised all these events in chronological order on a timeline.
We also enjoyed a wonderful trip to the LBA Multiflight Café, where we sipped hot chocolate while watching planes take off and land. The children had some fantastic discussions about how flight has changed over the years. Afterwards, we headed to the Chevin for some outdoor learning and woodland exploration.
It has been another fantastic week of learning and adventure in Year 2!
