Autumn 2 Week 6 13.12.24

Hello!

Thank you for sending in costumes for the children to wear for the Christmas play. We have been rehearsing lots and we are very excited for you to come and see the show next week.

In maths this week we have been recapping the composition of numbers to 5 (2 numbers that make up a bigger number). We have looked again at how 5 is represented in different ways. We have also been reviewing 1 more and 1 less. The children have enjoyed creating number stories around the number 5. You could do this at home: collect 5 teddies or figures and then create 2 spaces for them, perhaps a den with cushions and a comfy chair. Can you tell a story about your teddies and where they are? eg 2 teddies decided to sit on the chair and read a story together while 3 teddies snuggled up in the den. 2 and 3 together make 5. How many different combinations of 5 can you come up with? You could try this with 4 or 3 teddies too.

This week in Talk for Writing, we have innovated the story of Dear Zoo, coming up with ideas of different animals which the children have had a go at writing about using their phonic knowledge.

Next week in maths we will be continuing consolidating knowledge of number combinations up to 5. We will also be sharing equally between two groups.

In Understanding the World next week, we will be learning about Christmas. The children will learn about the nativity story. They will also find out how Christmas is celebrated in different parts of the world.

Next week the Christmas production is on Tuesday at 2.15pm and on Wednesday at 9.30am. We are looking forward to welcoming you into school to enjoy our show.

Thursday is party day where the children can come to school in non-uniform / party wear. Friday will be Christmas jumper day. We will be asking for a £1 donation to raise money for Save the Children. The children will also be allowed to bring a toy to play with (no electronics please).

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
