Pictures with moving parts
This week the children had a go at making two different mechanisms to make a picture with moving parts. They made a slider and a lever. We used the terms: mechanism, lever, pivot and prototype. The children followed a sequence of instructions to make the basic mechanism then added decoration to make the picture come to life. As a year group we are still working on our cutting skills making sure we can cut shapes as wells as straight lines. This is a skill that could be practised at home and we would love to see the children’s designs if they make their own moving pictures.

Snow day
This week we were givens an extra surprise of a snow day. The children were thrilled by the opportunity to get out in the snow and experience it first-hand. They had a go at rolling snowballs and also at watching it turn back to powered when it was dropped or thrown against the climbing equipment. There were lots of rosy cheeks, tingly fingers, cold toes and of course smiley faces.
