Hello!
This week we have been thinking about rules and why they are important. We thought about rules we have at school and at home. We have also been thinking about helping others and why helping is important. We learnt a song with signs which you might like to listen to together at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ53UQCXJe8
In maths we have used non-standard units to measure objects ie multilink to measure the height of toys. We have also been comparing groups of objects using the vocabulary more, fewer and equal. Here is a game to play all about more and fewer: https://ictgames.com/mobilePage/muckyMonsters/index.html
Next week we will be learning about the artist Paul Klee and we will be making collages based on some of his work. We will also be learning about being safe on the internet, thinking about what we should do if something pops up on our screen that we are not sure about or that makes us feel uncomfortable or confused. We will be learning about what personal information is. We will also be reading a book called ‘Don’t Hug Doug’ which we read earlier in the year and we will be thinking about the concept of consent and what this means.
In Maths next week we will be recognising longer and shorter lengths of time, looking at how long seconds are and what we can do in a minute. You might like to look at locks and stopwatches with your child this weekend. Maybe you could set a timer and do an activity within that time.
Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning. It is lovely to see pictures and videos and also to hear about all the reading and writing practice you are doing at home. A little bit each day makes such a difference to your child’s progress. We also love to see posts about other experiences your child has such as learning to ride a bike, taking part in activities with family and friends, coming home and telling you all about what they have learnt in school, the list is endless! All of these experiences and activities help us to see your child’s learning over the course of the year as they are learning all the time, not just when they are at school.
NUMBOTS Some children have brought home Numbots certificates and we have given out some more Numbots certificates this week. Well done to these children! You will have received an app message with a reminder about using this fabulous online maths resource. Your child’s login details are in their reading record and you can login via the website (https://numbots.com/) or you can download the app to a device. Please support your child in using this resource. Each week we will print certificates for stage completion, most improved score, most improved effort. Thank you for your support with this.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
