We have had another lovely week at school.
Our week began with a trip to Filey. Year 3 were so excited to experience it for the first time and had a fantastic day!
This week in History, we learnt about Doggerland and why it was important for the Stone Age people. The children learnt about the different theories to why it is no longer there and we looked at how Doggerland was discovered and the evidence we have to prove it was once land in which humans walked on.
In art, the children were introduced to their focus artist for this half term: Edward Lear. The children learnt about his history then created research pages to present some of his work.
In reading lessons, we read some more of the Twits and the children enjoyed hearing about the awful pranks Mr and Mrs Twit do to eachother. In story time, the children continued to listen to Gangsta Granny and enjoyed predicting what might happen to Ben and Granny as they set off on their top secret mission to steal the Crown Jewels!
In PSHE, the children reflected on strengths and challenges in which they have experienced in their lives and created a 'Challenges Ladder' to break down a key moment in their life (eg. learning to ride a bike) into the individual steps it took them and how it made them feel at the time. This was a fantastic exercise to help the children understand that although we have challenges in life, we manage to find ways to overcome them!
