Week 4

Week 4

This week in Year 3, we have been really busy!

In writing, we have been using our knowledge of time adverbials and have written a set of instructions to inform someone on how to prank Mrs Twit.

In maths, we have moved onto our second unit, addition and subtraction. The children have taken to their new learning really well!

In history, the children have been learning about how the early Stone Age people got their food. We talked about how they were nomadic hunter gatherers and moved around to find their own food, following the seasons. In outdoor learnings, the children had a go at being hunter gatherers themselves and searched the school grounds for edible foods. Mrs Fletcher talked to the children about how some foods would have been poisionous so not everything was available to eat. In class, the children then worked in groups to create PowerPoints to teach others about food during the Stone Age.

In science, the children furthered their knowledge of light by learning about how shadows are created. We first discussed that a shadow is formed when an opaque (not see through) object blocks light rays from a light source and forms the shadow. To follow this up, the children got into groups and created their own shadow puppet shows based on a traditional story of their choice.

In PE this week, we have been working on finding space in netball and in tag rugby, the children were working on learning how to pass a rugby ball accurately.

We have learnt so much this week!
