Year 5 Autumn Week 2
We started the week with our exciting KS2 trip to Filey Beach. The sun shone all day and it was the perfect setting for a fun-filled adventure by the sea. The children enjoyed playing in the sand, building impressive sandcastles and splashing in the water. A real highlight was cooling off with some delicious ice lollies after all that activity 🏖️
In English we have been learning about Ed Stafford and his expedition through the Amazon rainforest. The children imagined what it might have been like by writing diary entries, bringing his adventure to life with vivid detail ✍️
In maths we continued with our place value unit, this time focusing on partitioning numbers. The children worked carefully and showed real determination as they developed their understanding 🔢
We also began our new computing unit on online safety, thinking about how to stay safe and make sensible choices when using the internet 💻
In PE we started our football unit, practising key skills such as dribbling and passing while working together as a team ⚽
Science was another highlight this week as we explored different materials. The children tested for properties such as magnetism, conductivity, transparency and permeability, sorting and classifying with great curiosity 🔬
To finish the week, we had our very first swimming lesson. The children were excited and gave their best effort, showing great courage and determination in the pool 🏊
It has been another busy and brilliant week in Year 5. We are so proud of the children for the energy, positivity and enthusiasm they are bringing to all of their learning 🌟
