Autumn 1 Week 3

Year 5 Autumn Week 3

This week in maths we continued with our place value unit, moving on to rounding numbers, including tricky six-digit numbers. Although it was a challenge at times, the children showed great resilience and did not give up. We are very proud of the determination they have shown 🔢

In English the children wrote their amazing Ed Stafford diaries. They worked hard to capture his adventurous journey through the Amazon rainforest, using powerful vocabulary and detail to bring their writing to life ✍️

In art we explored shading techniques. The children experimented with different ways of creating light and shadow, producing some impressive work as they developed their skills 🎨

Science was lots of fun this week as we tested which materials dissolve in water. The children enjoyed predicting, experimenting and recording results, and they worked brilliantly together as scientists 🔬

We also continued reading more of our class book The Explorer by Katherine Rundell. The story is becoming very exciting and the children have been making thoughtful predictions and connections 📖

It has been another busy and rewarding week in Year 5. The children continue to impress us with their positive attitudes and enthusiasm for learning 🌟
