Autumn 1 - Week 5
This week, Year 1 have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of exciting learning activities across the curriculum.
As part of our Science topic on seasonal changes, the children went on an Autumn walk around the school grounds. They observed the natural environment carefully, looking for signs of Autumn and discussing how the world around us changes at this time of year.
In Music, pupils explored the different ways we can use our voices, including speaking, whispering, and singing. They learned two new songs: “Star Light, Star Bright” and “Listen, Listen”. The children also developed their sense of rhythm through marching to a steady beat and joining in with the rhyme “Chop, chop, choppity chop!” using actions.
Throughout the week, children completed a variety of classroom challenges. These included a maths true or false hunt, creating an informative report on Neil Armstrong’s moon landing, and developing their artistic skills through shading practice.
It has been a wonderful week of hands-on learning, curiosity, and creativity in Year 1!
