Year 5 Autumn Week 6
In maths this week we have been learning about multiples, common multiples, factors and common factors. The children enjoyed exploring number patterns and finding links between different facts, showing great focus and perseverance 🔢
In English we continued working on building tension in our writing. The children described the moment when the characters meet the explorer for the first time in our class novel The Explorer, using powerful vocabulary and descriptive detail to capture the drama and atmosphere ✍️
In science we investigated reversible and irreversible changes through a range of exciting experiments. We melted chocolate and butter, mixed bicarbonate of soda with vinegar, made oobleck, and even mixed milk with vinegar to see what would happen. The children loved predicting, testing and observing the changes, and had great fun working as scientists 🔬
In geography we learned about the features of a river, then applied our knowledge on our river walk to Pudsey Fulneck. The children spotted real-life examples of what we had learned in class, completed sketches of the river and took part in a rivers quiz. Everyone enjoyed being outdoors, observing nature and working together – even when climbing the big hill on the way back up! Take a look at some of our brilliant photos from the river walk below 📸
It has been a wonderful week of discovery, creativity and teamwork in Year 5 🌟
