Maths
This week in Maths, we have been focusing on adding and subtracting across ten. The children have been partitioning numbers to find bonds to ten and then using these to help them add from there. We have continued to use number lines, Dienes and counters to support and embed this learning.
Writing
In Writing, we have been exploring how characters feel at different points in a story. We were really impressed with the children’s thoughtful ideas, as well as the care they took with their presentation and handwriting. It was wonderful to see how proud they were of their work!
PE
We took part in a Year 2 dodgeball competition this week. We were so impressed with the children’s sportsmanship, teamwork and enthusiasm for the game. They all showed great energy and encouragement for one another!
Unstructured Play
This week we also enjoyed an unstructured play session. These sessions help to develop important skills such as creativity, communication and collaboration, as well as giving children the chance to embed learning from across the half term.
Music
In Music, we have been building our pitch skills by learning to use Kodály hand signs for the “So” and “Mi” pitches. The children can now sing See Saw and Cherry Pie, showing the pitch with their hands at the same time. They even managed to perform both songs simultaneously, with half the class singing one and half the other! The children also enjoyed the Cherry Pie game, passing the shaker and improvising their own “pies” — showing fantastic teamwork and creativity.
