Autumn 2 Week 2

This week, as part of their Geography the children have been learning all about where Zambia is in the world and have begun learning about a rural Zambian village called Mugurameno. They are getting really confident at using atlases to find different places on the maps.

In maths, the children have started learning how to subtract. They have been practising using the subtraction symbol and learning how to ensure they place the 'whole' in the correct place in the equation e.g 9-5=4. The children have also been consolidating their addition skills with a word problem hunt outside.

Challenges this week have focused on writing red words, creating a pair of odd socks for antibullying week and painting a sunset style watercolour background, which they will add silhouettes to next week.

As part of antibullying week, the children have learnt all about what bullying is and how to get help if they or another child is being bullied. They learned that bullying is not a one off event, that it happens over an extended period of time. This has given us a great opportunity to recap who our five trusted adults are that we can go to at home or at school, if we have a worry or a problem.
