Autumn 2 Week 2

Autumn 2 Week 2

Another busy and fun-filled week in Year 6 has gone by and we have been learning all about direct speech, the circulatory system, adding and subtracting fraction as well as raising money for Children in Need.

In maths, we have applied our arithmetic knowledge to a range of questions which involve reasoning and solving problems using appropriate methods. We have revised our arithmetic methods and used these to solve worded and multi-step problems. Year 6 are continuing to do amazingly well in their arithmetic; well done all!

In writing, we have been learning about how speech can portray character within a narrative. We have practiced building speech sentences and adding extra information with reporting clauses. Some children even acted out their speech, showing just how powerful words can be! Check out the pictures of our drama below.

In science, we began our exploration of the human body's circulatory system. We discuss the main parts of this crucial system and discovered the function of each one. Throughout this topic, we will continue to practice our scientific skills, using our knowledge to run experiments and think scientifically.

Alongside all of this, we have been keeping active in our PE lessons, taking part in Handball and an assault course as part of our Children in Need activities. The children had a fantastic time breaking Pudsey Bear's codes, designing a new bear for the campaign and taking part in a soggy but fun treasure hunt which was organised and run by our fabulous school council. Thank you to everyone for helping raise money for such a fantastic cause.
