This week in Year 3, we have been doing lots of fantastic learning.
In writing, we have started our new unit - writing a conversation using direct speech punctuation. We first watched a clip which our conversation is going to be based on, then we ordered the events and retold the story to others in the class. After, we then worked as groups to order a conversation between the two main characters and then added in speech punctuation using post-it notes.
In maths, we continued to practise our times tables. We looked at the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We then looked at the difference between sharing and grouping when doing division. Finally, we looked at multiplying using the 3 times tables.
In science, we learnt about food packaging and what we can find out from them. We looked at the label at the back of food items and also the traffic light labels on the front. We then had to decide whether we thought they were a healthy choice or an occasional treat.
In PE, we continued to practise our skills in football, working this week specifically on intercepting the ball. In our second unit, Commando Joes, we were challenged to work as teams and build shelters, imagining we were Ed Stafford on his journey down the Amazon.
In our computing lessons, we started to understand the basics of using Scratch. We learnt how to make 2 differnt sprites (characters) move at once, using different controls to make them begin.
In outdoor learning with Mrs Fletcher, we did some planting of new bulbs to come up in the Spring!
