This week in Year 2, we have had another busy and exciting week of learning!
In maths, we have been using the pictorial method to subtract two 2-digit numbers across a ten. The children have been learning how to exchange a ten for ten ones, using drawings to support their understanding. We have also applied our knowledge of both addition and subtraction to solve comparison problems and to find missing numbers. The children have shown great determination and growing confidence as they tackled these challenges—well done, Year 2!
In writing, we have continued working on our non-chronological reports about Emperor Penguins. This week, the children began organising their facts into clear paragraphs. They have written titles for their reports and have carefully crafted an introduction that explains what the report will be about. We were so impressed with how well the children remembered to use factual language and present their information clearly for the reader.
In Design Technology, the children have been busy creating prototypes for their gadget holders. They also practised the running stitch, which they will use when making their final products. The focus and care they showed in their sewing practice was fantastic, and they are now well prepared for the next step in their project.
