This week in Maths the children have been continuing learning how to subtract and have been thinking of subtraction as 'how many left?'. They have also added their knowledge of subtraction to their fact families creating 8 calculations to go with one fact family.
e.g.
3+4=7 7- 3=4
4+3=7 7- 4=3
7=4+3 4=7 -3
7= 3+4 3=7 -4
In Geography, the children learnt all about human and physical geographical features and had to sort things they would find in an African village into Human and Physical. Human features are things built by people, such as houses, shops, roads and bridges and Physical features are natural such as rivers, lakes, mountains, oceans etc.
The children have continued learning about different animal groups and their characteristics and consolidated everything they had learned this week with a hunt for clues around the classroom. The children had to find clues for their group and categorise the clues, placing them on the page for the correct animal.
On Thursday this week, the children were super excited to take part in African drumming and dancing workshops to enrich our topic about Zambia. Have a look at some of the photos we took from that day.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
