Autumn 2 Week 4

Autumn 2 Week 4

As always, Year 3 has had a very busy, fun filled week.

On Monday and Tuesday, Year 3 visited the United Hebrew Congregation in Shadwell for our RE unit on Judaism. The children learnt about the torah scrolls, Bar and Bat mitvah's, the Shabbat which takes place on a Saturday and heard some stories in the Old Testament. We were so impressed with how engaged and respectful all the children were. They asked some really well-thought, insightful questions and came away with lots of new knowledge.

In maths lessons, the children continued to practise their 3 and 4 times tables. They did lots of chanting and games to do this and it has been fantastic to see their confidence growing.

In PE this week, the children continued to practise their football skills. In Tuesday's PE lesson this week, the children went out as a whole year group and did some team building activities. They worked amazing as a team and we were so impressed.

On Friday, Year 3 continued to work on their DT project for this half term which is sewing a bag. In lesson 1, they looked at different types of bags, thinking about how they are made, what they are made from, what their purpose is. In lesson 2, the children created a 'mock-up' product of their final piece to practise putting it together, the size and to give them ideas about how they want their final piece to look. In lesson 3, they then learnt the backwards running stitch.

This week, Year 3 also had their annual pantomime, the Christmas fayre and Endangered Animal Day so there has been lots going on in school.
