We have had a very busy week putting the finishing touches to our Christmas production. We hope that everyone who came to watch the show enjoyed it and left feeling full of Christmas joy! We were incredibly proud of the Year 2 children, who did a fabulous job dancing and confidently singing the Christmas songs.
Alongside preparing for our performance, we also continued with our learning. In maths, we built on our work about shape by learning to identify the properties of 3D shapes. We practised the names of 3D shapes and explored how many faces, edges and vertices different shapes have. To help us with this, we used practical methods such as circling vertices, numbering faces and running our fingers along edges. We also looked carefully at the shape of the faces to help us name each 3D shape.
In writing, we completed our non-chronological reports about Emperor Penguins. We worked hard to edit our work, checking for corrections and making sure each paragraph made sense. We then wrote our final versions using our neatest handwriting, organised our work carefully and added lovely illustrations to make it appealing to the reader.
In DT, we finished making our products. It took lots of determination to sew two pieces of fabric together using a running stitch. We even added embellishments to personalise our cases for the person we designed them for. Year 2 worked extremely hard on their designs and completed them with great care. Everyone created a high-quality finished product!
