How will Springbank make sure my child is included in activities alongside pupils who don't have SEN?

At Springbank we want every child to feel welcome, valued, and able to participate fully in the life of the school. We take a proactive approach to make sure children with SEND are included in all school trips and extracurricular activities. We do this by:

  • Monitoring the attendance of pupils with SEND in extracurricular activities and removing barriers to access
  • Using pupil voice to inform the planning of clubs and events
  • Designing extracurricular activities with the needs of our SEND cohort in mind, including staffing, group sizes, and risk assessments
  • Creating clubs based on pupil preferences, such as Lego Club and Circle of Friends
  • Running an annual pupil voice activity—“I wish we had a club for…”—to shape future provision
  • Participating in SEND-focused events through our Well School partnership, including Deaf Friends and SEND music events

Risk assessments and additional support are provided as needed, and parents/carers are actively involved in planning to ensure their child’s needs are met.
