At Springbank we want every child to feel welcome, valued, and able to participate fully in the life of the school. We take a proactive approach to make sure children with SEND are included in all school trips and extracurricular activities. We do this by:
- Monitoring the attendance of pupils with SEND in extracurricular activities and removing barriers to access
- Using pupil voice to inform the planning of clubs and events
- Designing extracurricular activities with the needs of our SEND cohort in mind, including staffing, group sizes, and risk assessments
- Creating clubs based on pupil preferences, such as Lego Club and Circle of Friends
- Running an annual pupil voice activity—“I wish we had a club for…”—to shape future provision
- Participating in SEND-focused events through our Well School partnership, including Deaf Friends and SEND music events
Risk assessments and additional support are provided as needed, and parents/carers are actively involved in planning to ensure their child’s needs are met.
