How will Springbank resources be secured for my child?

Springbank uses its funding carefully to ensure every child can succeed. Decisions about support are made collaboratively by the SENCO, Headteacher, and class teacher, with parents and carers often involved in these discussions.

The school receives funding based on a notional formula per pupil. Schools are expected to provide the first £6,000 of support for children and young people with SEND who are on the school’s Inclusion Register, using their existing budget.

If a child’s needs exceed what can be provided through this notional budget, the school can apply for additional funding. This is awarded based on strict criteria, usually through a request for an education health and care plan and is used to put appropriate support in place to meet the child’s specific needs.

Where necessary, additional teaching assistants may be employed to support your child, usually within small group settings, as most children do not require 1:1 support. If 1:1 support is needed, funding is directed towards staffing. Funding may also be used to purchase additional resources such as:

  • Sloping desk tops
  • Laptops
  • Changing equipment
