Year 6 continued their outdoor learning unit with a session on World War 2 shelters. The classes learnt how to make lean-to shelters with minimal equipment and then...disaster struck! The war had begun and we had injured soldiers strewn across the battlefield. In order to save them, our troops had to make make-shift stretchers with just the equipment they had on hand, take the casualty back to their shelter and treat their wounds with slings and bandages. Unfortunately, in all the chaos - the enemy discovered our position and we had to move our shelters to a safer location and make them more substantial so we had a field hospital in place. The children had a fantastic time in the outdoors combining their history learning with the natural environment and active learning!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
