Saltburn 03.09.25

This half term, Year 2 have been exploring the history of the seaside and how it’s changed over the years. To bring all that learning to life, we took a trip to Saltburn and what a brilliant day it was! We started our visit with a ride on the miniature train, imagining what it would’ve been like for Victorian families arriving by steam train for their seaside holidays. The children loved the experience and it really helped them picture what a day out would have looked like in the past. Once we arrived at the beach, we enjoyed a well-earned ice lolly while looking out over the pier. We spotted the iconic funicular railway and took in the colourful beach huts that line the promenade. To round off our day, we had some time in the arcade. There was plenty of excitement, lots of cheering and more than a few winning tickets! The children had a fantastic time and it was lovely to see them making connections between what they’ve been learning in the classroom and the world around them.
