Science: Parts of a Flower 3.3.25

Year 5 Science: Exploring the Parts of a Flower

Our Year 5 students recently embarked on an exciting science journey, exploring the structure and function of flowers!

As part of this topic, they learned about the different parts of a flower, including the petals, stamen, stigma, and sepals, and discovered their vital roles in plant reproduction. To bring their learning to life, students carefully dissected real flowers, examining each part up close and making connections between structure and function.

To consolidate their understanding, they also created detailed, labelled scientific sketches of their dissected flowers, developing their observation and diagramming skills. This hands-on experience enhanced their scientific thinking, curiosity, and appreciation for the natural world.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 5 students to deepen their knowledge and explore the beauty and complexity of flowers! 🌸🌿
