Year 3 had a fantastic day at Skelton Grange Environment Centre last week. In small groups, the children were participated in a range of activities such as: identifying trees using only their sense of touch, embarking on a plant treasure hunt through the allotments and fields, investigating how seeds spread through wind, water, and animals, and dissecting a flower to explore the parts of it —petals, stamens stigma, sepal, ovary—and their roles in pollination. These activities gave the children more information about plants, our topic for the Summer term.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
