Year 2 have had a wonderful first week back, packed full of exciting new learning and topics!
We began our history learning by finding out about a very special lady, Florence Nightingale. The children have been really interested in her life and work, and we are looking forward to exploring this topic even further on our upcoming trip to the Thackray Museum next week.
In computing, we started a brand-new unit all about photography. The children had great fun learning how to use cameras, posing for photographs, and taking pictures of each other while discussing what makes a good photo.
Our DT learning also got off to a great start. This term we will be making a couscous salad, so we began by learning about the Eatwell Plate and discussing how to keep a healthy, balanced diet.
In science, we recapped our knowledge of different materials and their uses. The children enjoyed exploring around the school to identify materials and think carefully about why certain materials are used in different places.
What a fantastic start to the term – we’re excited for all the learning still to come!
