This week, we have had a fantastic time in Year 5, with the children showing enthusiasm, curiosity and a positive attitude towards their learning throughout the week.
In English, we have continued our instruction-writing unit, How to Train Your Dragon. The children have been writing their own instructions, using a variety of fronted adverbials and modal verbs to give clear commands and add authority to their writing. Their creativity and attention to detail have been impressive. 🐉✏️
In maths, the focus has been on short division. The children have worked hard to apply this new method accurately, showing great resilience and confidence as they tackled increasingly challenging problems. 🔢
During history, the classroom turned into an archaeological dig! The children became archaeologists, examining primary sources from Sutton Hoo and making predictions about who the artefacts may have belonged to. They asked thoughtful questions and used historical reasoning to support their ideas. 🏺
In PE, we focused on gymnastics, practising different types of rolling including the teddy bear roll, front roll and shoulder stand. The children demonstrated excellent control, balance and determination as they developed their skills. 🤸♂️
Well done, Year 5, for another brilliant week of learning—we are very proud of you! 🌟
