As always, Year 3 has had a very busy and fun-filled week, packed with lots of exciting learning across the curriculum.
On Monday, the children took part in a computing lesson where they explored animation. They learnt how animations are created frame by frame and had a go at creating their own, developing their understanding of how small changes can bring images to life.
On Tuesday, Year 3 enjoyed an action-packed outdoor learning session. The children worked together to make snowflakes using cocktail sticks and marshmallows, took part in winter scavenger hunts and had great fun using the outdoor equipment, including the rope bridge, hammock and swings. Also on Tuesday, in DT, the children practised making 3D shapes using nets. They carefully folded and assembled their shapes, showing excellent perseverance and problem-solving skills.
On Wednesday, in maths, the children practised multiplying using the part-whole method, which helped them break down problems and deepen their understanding. In history, the children became experts in Ancient Egyptian life. They researched different areas such as pharaohs, writing, trade and transport, and food and farming, before teaching their friends what they had learnt. It was fantastic to see their confidence and enthusiasm when sharing their knowledge.
On Thursday, the children continued to practise using subordinating conjunctions in English. They went on a classroom hunt, using magnifying glasses to search for different conjunctions hidden in tiny writing. The children were highly engaged and worked hard to spot as many as they could.
It has been another brilliant week in Year 3, and we are so proud of the children’s enthusiasm, teamwork and eagerness to learn.
