Spring 1 Week 3

This week, we have had a fantastic and busy time in Year 5. 🌟

In English, we have been working on a setting description of a mead hall, linked to our Anglo-Saxon topic. The children used fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases to create vivid and atmospheric descriptions. Their writing showed great imagination and an increasing confidence in using ambitious vocabulary to bring their settings to life. ✍️🏰

In maths, our focus has been on multiplying unit and non-unit fractions by integers. The children worked hard to understand the concepts and apply their knowledge accurately, demonstrating resilience and a growing confidence when solving a range of problems. 🔢

During history, we explored life in Anglo-Saxon Britain. The children learned about daily life, homes and society, and engaged thoughtfully in discussions, asking insightful questions and making comparisons with life today. 🛡️

In PE, we continued our gymnastics unit, focusing on counter and tension balances. The children showed excellent control, teamwork and determination as they practised holding balances safely and with precision. 🤸‍♀️

In art, the children began a double-page research spread on Antoni Gaudí. They explored his unique style and architectural influences, presenting their findings creatively and neatly in their sketchbooks. 🎨

Finally, in computing, we developed our skills in searching databases, learning how to find, filter and interpret information effectively and safely. 💻

Well done, Year 5, for another brilliant week of learning—we are very proud of you! 🌟
