Spring 1 Week 5

Spring 1 Week 5

Despite the miserable weather, it has been anything but miserable in Year 6 this week. The children have continued to work hard with smiles on their faces and have been completing some practice SAT papers this week. This can often feel daunting but the children have tried their absolute best and that is all we can ask!

As well as a reading and grammar SAT, we have continued to work on our crazy creature non-chronological reports. The children have been applying their knowledge of colons and semi-colons in list to create a rich and vivid description of their new creatures. We have also been showing off all the other skills we have picked up along the way including using relative clauses, writing formally and using similes and metaphors. We can't wait to see what AI thinks of our descriptions!

In maths, we've been continuing to tackle our algebra unit and applying our new found knowledge to single and multistep problems. It's been fantastic to see the confidence in this area of maths continue to grow and for the children to realise just how capable they are!

As well as our English and maths learning: we have been electrical engineers, building circuits and investigating different types; continuing our keeping safe outside unit in PSHE; showing off all our swimming strokes at Bramley Baths and applying our reading skills to unknown texts which we used to form wanted posters for the career criminal...Goldilocks!

By the end of next week we are half way through Year 6 and time is certainly flying!
