Hello!
This week we have been thinking about ‘Our Wonderful World’. The children have been thinking about the changes in the seasons and what they like about different seasons. We have thought about signs of new life and how we can look after our world. We have considered what the word ‘special’ means and what and who are special to us. We have also completed a No Outsiders lesson where we read The Family Book by Todd Parr and talked about how all families are different.
Next week it is Arts Week and we will be learning about the artist Alberto Giacometti who was a painter and sculptor. We will be creating some sculptures of our own. The children will also be part of a music workshop and will experience live music from some different visiting musicians.
This week in maths we have been recognising different lengths of time and what we can do in a period of time. We have been sorting objects according to attributes such as size, colour and shape and using vocabulary linked to these attributes. We have been exploring odd and even numbers and using this knowledge to explore doubles further. The following episode of Numberblocks features the Even Tops and Odd Blocks. You might like to watch this together at home: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08r2l4d/numberblocks-series-2-odds-and-evens
Next week in maths we will be looking at the composition of the numbers 6, 7 and 8 and reviewing past learning.
Next week we have our Easter Egg competition on Friday. If your child has made a creation, they will need to bring this in on Friday morning. We will look at the creations together in class before they are all brought up the hall where classes will have a chance to have a look. From 2.45pm you will be able to collect your child to have a look together at all the egg creations.
Thank you so much for coming to share in your child’s learning this week. We hope you enjoyed joining in with ‘Discovery Time’ with your child.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
