Hello!
This week we have been learning about maps. The children have learnt about what a map shows and how a map uses simple symbols to represent places. They have explored a range of maps from different books and stories and have created their own too. We have drawn our own maps and have thought about the position of where things are in relation to each other.
You may like to explore Farsley and beyond with google maps. We have used this in class, zooming in to see the detail of our local area and zooming out to see where we are in the world. https://maps.google.com/
Next week in Understanding the World our focus will be around transition. We will be thinking about what makes us special and talking about how changes make us feel. We will be thinking about what we are good at, what we need more support with and talking about our hopes and wishes for the future in Year 1.
In maths we have been recapping number bonds to 5 and also making numbers within 10 using the 5 and a bit structure. We have used range of resources including the rekenreks, ten frames and dice frames.
Next week in maths we will be recapping our understanding of numerical patterns, looking at teen numbers, doubles and odds and evens.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
