What types of SEN does Springbank provide for?

At Farsley Springbank, we welcome and support children with a wide range of needs. Every child is different, and we aim to understand and support each one as an individual.

The terms used in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) can vary, but we follow the four broad categories set out in the SEND Code of Practice (2015). These help us to understand and organise the types of needs children may have.

The Four Broad Areas of Need

Every Child is Unique

We believe that every child is a unique individual with their own strengths, challenges, and ways of learning. At Springbank, we take time to get to know each child well so we can make the best decisions about how to support them. We focus on what a child needs, rather than just their diagnosis. This means we look at their strengths, skills, and areas where they need help and then plan support that’s right for them.

What this means for parents

  • You don’t need a formal diagnosis for your child to receive support.
  • We will work with you to understand your child’s needs.
  • Support is tailored to your child’s individual profile, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
