Easter fun!
This week the children have enjoyed a range of activities linked to Easter. They have been creating Easter bunnies in the craft area, making stained glass eggs using tissue paper and creating egg prints in the painting area.
Thank you so much to all those who took part in the Easter egg competition. The entries are absolutely fantastic and we have all enjoyed looking at and talking about the different designs which the children have worked so hard making and are clearly very proud of. Well done to all children who took part and to the winning entries too!
In Understanding the World, the children have learned about the Christian festival of Easter and how Christians celebrate. They have learnt that there are many different ways to celebrate Easter, including giving and receiving Easter eggs and going on Easter egg hunts.
This week in maths, we have been recapping number bonds and odd and even numbers. We have solved word problems using 10 frames. For instance, ‘I have 6 cakes and I eat 2 of them. How many do I have left?’ You might like to play some games at home with toys or food adding more or taking some away.
After the holidays, the children will be learning through the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. They will begin by learning the story, sequencing the story and learning actions to retell the story.
In Maths, the children will practise number sequences, spot missing numbers, and explore patterns in number names such as “teen” and “-ty.” Through practical activities and daily routines, they will also practise counting on from different starting points and will count beyond 20.
Happy Easter! We hope you have a restful holiday together with your families.
