Year 4 embarked on their very first residential trip to Lineham Farm. They embraced the great outdoors, taking on exciting activities like mountain biking, bushcraft, Jacob’s Ladder, and rock climbing. All the children showed great determination and teamwork, they tackled every challenge and made wonderful memories along the way. When they weren't busy outside, the children were able to play with their friends in the fantastic games room and in the evenings, they spent time watching a film or going on the night walk. It was a fantastic experience, and we couldn’t be prouder of their enthusiasm and resilience!  

Year 6 enjoyed their second walk of the year - the very wet and muddy Calverley Woods Circular. Our walk was 5 miles long and full of giant puddles to jump in. The children were absolutely amazing sports and thoroughly enjoyed walking and playing with their friends along the way. Great teamwork was shown when it came to pouring water out of each other's wellies and we also got to see lots of horses along the way. Year 6 are well and truly prepped for their walk up Ingleborough in May where hopefully we'll have some brighter conditions. 

The children had fun at the Valentine’s discos.  It is always great to see them having such a good time with their friends.  There was lots of Springbank friendship love in the room!

We took 90 children to Sheffield Arena venue for our annual performance as part of the largest children’s choir in the world at Young Voices!  There were over 5000 school children singing together, accompanied by a live band of incredible musicians.  It is always so inspiring to hear the power of such a large choir singing together.  Our children performed all the songs, and dance moves, they have been working so hard on since September and were absolutely fabulous. We were joined by special guests Street Dance group Urban Strides, the amazing Annesa Folds and Harriet Rose. We even got to perform with them, joining together for a huge finale featuring a medley of disco fever songs. It was a long day, but packed full of brilliant experiences and memories for all the children and staff.

Year 5 stepped back in time for an exciting Anglo-Saxon Day with Catherine Conyard. The children explored a range of fascinating artefacts, including belt buckles and pottery, to learn what everyday life was like in Anglo-Saxon times. They then took part in an original Anglo-Saxon game before discovering how Anglo-Saxons lived by examining their longhouses and designing their own. The day ended with an engaging session on warfare, giving pupils a vivid insight into battles and weapons of the past. It was a brilliant, hands-on, memorable day that brought Year 5's history topic to life! 

Year 4 had a fantastic time learning more about India by participating in a day all about India! They began the day by using some of the scarves and clothes that we had to dress up before completing a carousel of activities including cooking a lentil dahl, Indian dancing and learning more about the food and festivals of India. They completed their day by learning all about the art of mehndi before creating their own mehndi designs on outlines of their hands! A fantastic day was had by all!

Year 5 had an absolutely fantastic time on their residential to Herd Farm! The children quickly settled in, making their own beds and were excited to be sharing rooms with their friends. They threw themselves into every activity with energy and enthusiasm, from mountain biking and high ropes to archery and orienteering. Even the cold and rain couldn't stop us! The team building challenges of the muddy assault course, moonwalk and nightline pushed them to work collaboratively, show resilience, and persevere. Our evenings were busy and fun too. On the first night, we did a night walk around the local area and Eccup Reservoir. The second night was packed with laughter at the talent show, finished off with warming hot chocolates. Throughout the whole trip, the children impressed us with their teamwork, positive attitudes and resilience. They represented themselves, and Springbank, brilliantly and made memories that will last a lifetime! Well done Year 5!

A selected group of children, who qualified from Key Stage 2, competed in the Leeds City Cross Country final at Temple Newsam. Despite the cold and wet conditions, the children showed incredible determination and resilience, giving their best efforts throughout the race. Their hard work and perseverance paid off as they all performed brilliantly and represented Springbank with pride. The challenging weather didn’t stop them from pushing through, although they were all looking forward to getting nice and warm afterwards. We have 3 children who have qualified to the West Yorkshire Final in March which is amazing! Well done KS2!

Year 3 set off on their second walk of the year, completing the Apperley Bridge Circular. The route was just over four miles long, and the children did an amazing job, showing great determination and enthusiasm throughout. Along the way, they enjoyed walking beside the River Aire and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal, taking in the local scenery and wildlife. 3M got extremely lucky and their highlight was spotting deer in the wild! We are incredibly proud of how well all the children rose to the challenge.
