  • Young Voices 2018

Fri 19 Jan 2018 Mrs Darlison
Yet again, the talented young singers of Springbank did us proud at the 20th Young Voices concert at Sheffield Arena. 21 of our pupils from Years 3-6 worked relentlessly all through the Autumn term to learn a huge selection of songs. From classical to rock to musical theatre, they rose to the challenge of learning all the music and the words. They performed alongside 5000 other children from schools around the country as well as a host of special guests. The children set an amazing example and enjoyed every minute. Very well done and thank you to all the children and parents and carers who supported us.

  • Christmas Music Concert

    Fri 15 Dec 2017
On Friday morning we held a Christmas music concert featuring some of the children who have music lessons at our school. Included was instruments such as saxophone, guitars, drums, flutes, brass, singing and and an entire string orchestra! The children performed lots of Christmas classics (including a number of versions of Jingle Bells) and once again showed how far they have developed as musicians in such a short time. It was also announced that a number of the children have achieved the Artforms Red award and some pupils even received their official Grade 1 and 2 certificates. Well done to all the children involved.

Reception children treated everyone to two great performances this week.  I was amazed at how many songs the children had learnt; they sang them beautifully and with actions too!  The children had obviously worked really hard to learn their lines.  It takes courage to stand up and perform in front of such a large audience and the children showed confidence when entertaining everyone.  Fantastic performance Reception, well done!
  • Singing club at Live at Home scheme

    Thu 07 Dec 2017 Mrs Ashley-Cooper
Yesterday our children who attend singing club went along to the Live at Home scheme at St John's Church Hall to sing Christmas songs. We received a very warm welcome and as the children sang and performed their super actions, there was some great audience participation. After singing, the children had a lovely time chatting to the people there. We were given some fabulous compliments about the behaviour of the children and their wonderful singing. Everyone left with a really warm glow, feeling full of Christmas cheer.
  • LSMA Christmas Concert at Leeds Town Hall

    Thu 07 Dec 2017 Mrs Ashley-Cooper

On Tuesday 5th December, seven of our children from Years 5 and 6 took part in the Leeds Schools Music Association Christmas Concert at Leeds Town Hall. They have been working very hard over the last two months to learn all the songs for this concert and they did a fantastic job. They really sang their hearts out and behaved beautifully.

320 children from 41 Leeds schools made up the LSMA Festival choir and the sound they made was just magical. There was a wide variety of performances including City of Leeds Youth Orchestra, Leeds Youth Choir, Roots Alive (a fantastic folk band) and of course the audience themselves who participated in singing carols alongside all of the musicians.

A big well done to those who took part and thank you to parents for supporting your children in this.

  • Y3+Y4 Christmas production 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas.'

    Wed 06 Dec 2017
This week Years 3 and 4 were really proud to host two evening performances of 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas!' The children have been working really hard to learn lines, develop clear and loud acting voices, practice singing, perform festive songs alongside many other jobs and roles. The children were absolutely fantastic on the night and were extremely proud to show off all their hard work and brilliant skills. All the staff were very proud of the children in return as they worked their socks off for the show and their singing and delivery was excellent! The children acted out the story of four Grinches who get upset at the local festivities and decide to undo all Santa's hard work, thankfully it all came right in the end!
