  • Year 6 trip to Eden Camp for WW2

    Wed 15 Oct 2025

Year 6 headed off to Eden Camp to learn more about Yorkshire at War. So far Year 6 have been learning about WW1 so this was an interesting way to start their WW2 learning journey.  The children had chance to experience 1940s music, entertainment and wartime life by visiting the huge array of exhibits on display at the museum. Children experienced the noise and chaos of an air raid in The Blitz, had chance to sit in an air raid shelter, become a submarine driver and stand up close and personal with some of the heavy artillery and weaponry from the time.   The children were beautifully behaved and are looking forward to finding out more about WW2 next half term.

  • Year 4 Kirkstall Abbey walk

    Mon 13 Oct 2025

Year 4 children had a great morning going on their first walking trip.  They set off from school down to Rodley and then along the canal all the way to Kirkstall Abbey.  They were very lucky with the weather and also saw plenty of ducks, swans, dogs and canal boats to keep them entertained on their trip. The children had great stamina and plenty of energy left after their 4.8 mile walk for a play on the ruins at Kirkstall Abbey with a picnic. We are very proud of all the children and they can be proud of themselves too.

  • Year 5 geography fieldwork - a river walk

    Thu 09 Oct 2025

As part of their rainforest topic and learning about rivers, Year 5 enjoyed an exciting river walk to see river features in real life and link them to their learning about the Amazon River.  The children walked down to the river, carefully observing the surroundings. They sat down near the river and took their time to complete detailed sketches, staying on task and demonstrating their knowledge. They also took part in a rivers quiz, applying what they had learned and spotting examples in the environment. After a busy and enjoyable morning, they walked all the way back up the hill. The children showed great determination and teamwork throughout the day. Well done Year 5!

  • Year 2 trip to Multiflight Cafe and Chevin Lodge

    Wed 08 Oct 2025

As part of their recent topic on The History and Development of Flight, our Year 2 pupils took an exciting trip to the Multiflight Café at Leeds Bradford Airport. The children loved watching a variety of planes take off and land while enjoying a hot chocolate — it was the perfect way to bring their classroom learning to life! Afterwards, the adventure continued with a visit to the Chevin, where the children explored a huge woodland den and enjoyed plenty of outdoor play amongst the trees. The children had a brilliant day and came back to school full of stories about the planes they saw and dens they built.

  • Year 1 Grandparents come to visit

    Mon 06 Oct 2025

Year 1 children had a fantastic afternoon learning about history first hand from some of the Year 1 grandparents. The children were thrilled to meet the grandparents and be able to ask all sorts of questions about what life was like when they were young. The visitors brought a whole host of artifacts including photographs, toys, books and magazines, coins, record players, cameras and even examples of their own school work. The children joined in with 1960’s crafts and made items out of paper. The whole afternoon was a buzz of excitement and wonder as the children glimpsed what life was like for a child in the 1960s. The session was a huge success and was finished off beautifully by a poem written by one of the children’s very talented grandparents who wrote a poem about what life was like when she was a child. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the grandparents who volunteered to join us. The Year 1 children learnt a great deal and will remember this experience fondly.

  • Year 3 Hawkswood walk

    Thu 02 Oct 2025

To launch our new school-wide walking curriculum, Year 3 did their first walk of the year – the Hawksworth Wood and Leeds and Liverpool Canal circular. On the way, the children got the opportunity to see the River Aire, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and also enjoyed crossing the train line at Kirkstall Forge train station. We discussed where they could catch the train to if they hopped on there, as well as the differences between a river and a canal. The walk also provided the children with the chance to practice their road safety skills. The children absolutely loved spending their time in the outdoors and they are very excited for their next walk!
